Health Benefits Of Green Salad

Green salad in India generally comprises of lettuce, onion, cucumber, tomato, carrot, lemon and green chilly. Other vegetables like radish and beetroot can also be added. The 9 most important health benefits of consuming green salads are

  1.  Onions are known to reduce the effect of pain, inflammation and cholesterol level in the body. It's antioxidant properties helps to prevent cancer. Onion is said to promote hair growth when applied to hair. 
  2. Carrot is a highly nutritional vegetable. Regular consumption of raw carrots helps to maintain healthy vision, skin and hair due to the presence of beta-carotene. It also reduces the risk of cancer, stroke and heart diseases.
  3. Tomatoes are rich in beta-carotene, lycopene,  vitamin C ,vitamin E and Manganese. Regular consumption of tomato reduces the risk of cancer, sunburn, heart diseases and improves the functions of liver, bones, kidneys and blood flow.
  4. Cucumber when taken regularly helps to prevent inflammation and cancer. It is good in summer to re-hydrate the body and restore vitamins.
  5. Green chillies are rich source of vitamin C which improves the immune system. It improves digestion as it is rich in dietary fibers. It is good for lungs and is beneficial in controlling blood sugar.
  6. Lemon is rich in vitamin C. Its a versatile vegetable. Few drops of lemon juice taken on daily basis will boost the immune system. It helps to fight infections and diseases. it aides in digestion, improves blood circulation, reduces cholesterol, and helps to maintain healthy gum, teeth, skin and bones.
  7. Lettuces are rich source of vitamin A,vitamin C, vitamin K, dietary fibers, protein, calcium and iron. It is useful in maintaining healthy body weight, improves digestion, improves blood sugar level and helps to maintain healthy skin and hair,
  8. Beetroot is rich in vitamin A, B, and C. It is also a great source of iron, potassium , magnesium and folic acids. Beetroot intake helps reduce blood pressure and heart related risks. Its antioxidant property helps prevent Cancer. It improves blood sugar level and lowers cholesterol. It is also beneficial for bones.
  9. Radish consumption are beneficial in reducing and preventing the risk of Cardiovascular disease, Jaundice and Cancer due to its detoxifying nature and antioxidant properties. It  protects internal organs like Kidney ,Liver , Stomach and Gall bladder from infections.
