Era Varuval / Prawn Varuval / Prawn Fry

Main ingredient

Prawns cleaned and deveined – 500 g

 

Ingredients for marinating

Ginger garlic paste – 50 g

Turmeric powder – ½ tsp

Red chilli powder – ½ tsp

Coriander powder - 1 tsp

Cumin powder – ½ tsp

Salt to taste

Lemon juice – 1 tbsp

 

Ingredients for cooking

Cooking oil – 80 ml

Onion peeled and slice – use 2 medium sized

Ginger garlic paste – 50 g

Green chillies slit – use 2 chillies

Red chilli whole – 2 to 3

Curry leaves – 5 -6 leaves

Chilli powder – ½ tsp

Garam masala powder – 1 tsp

Black pepper powder – ½ tsp

Tamarind pulp soaked and strained – 80 ml

Salt to taste

Coriander leaves chopped – 2 tbsp

 

Method

Marinate the prawns with the ingredients mentioned for marinating. Keep aside for 30 minutes.

For cooking the marinated prawns first heat oil in a kadhai. Add sliced onion and sauté till light brown. Add ginger garlic paste and slit chillies. Cook for few minutes. Add whole red chillies and curry leaves and remaining ingredients and cook till masala is dry.

Add the marinated prawns and cook for 5 minutes. Add coriander leaves and serve hot.
