Palak Paneer


Palak or Spinach - 500 gm or a bunch

Cottage cheese or Paneer - 100 gm 

Oil - 2 tbsp

Butter - 1 tbsp

Fresh Cream - 2 tbsp

Garlic Chopped - 1 tbsp

Onion chopped -  1 medium

Green Chilly Chipped - 1 tsp

Cumin seeds or Jeera - 1 tsp

Bay leaf or Tez patta - 1

Garam Masala - a pinch

Salt - to taste


Fresh Cream - 1 tsp

Fried Garlic Pearls - few


1. Wash the spinach under running water. Boil in salted water for 2 - 3 minutes. Drain and put in cold water or ice water. Drain again and put in a blender and make a fine puree.

2. Cut the Paneer into cubes as per your desired size. Saute them in 1 tbsp of oil for 1 minute. Drain and keep aside.

3. Heat a pan. Put remaining 1 tbsp oil and 1 tbsp butter together. Add cumin seeds and bay leaf to the hot oil. Saute for 30 seconds and add chopped garlic, chopped onion and chopped green chilly and saute for 2-3 minutes. 

4. Add Spinach puree. Cook for a while. Add garam masala powder and salt. Add Paneer cubes. cook for a minute and finish with fresh cream. remove from the heat.

5. Serve garnished with some cream and fried garlic pearls.
